Rather predictable result in Ishikawa where third ranked Kanazawa Sam. (22-21) beat 6th ranked Tokyo Z (18-26) 85-80 on Saturday. They outrebounded Tokyo Z 39-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. Kanazawa Sam. looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Tokyo Z was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Ide Yuji (181-88) chipped in 10 points and 7 assists. Five Kanazawa Sam. players scored in double figures. Guard Masuko Takumi (186-91) produced 16 points and 5 assists and American forward Cinmeon Bowers (201-93, college: Auburn) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Kanazawa Sam. maintains third position with 22-21 record having six points less than leader Akita NH, which they share with Cyberdyne IR. Loser Tokyo Z keeps the sixth place with 26 games lost. Kanazawa Sam. will face again Tokyo Z (#6) at home in the next round.
