Regular Season Round 23: Lima-Horta - Rioja 58-69

Rather predictable result in Barcelona where eighth ranked Rioja (12-11) defeated 10th ranked Lima-Horta (8-15) 69-58 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rioja. Lima-Horta was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Lima-Horta 39-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Lima-Horta was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American center Erika Livermore (185-93, college: Fair Dickinson) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. DR Congolese-Belgian center Harriet Bende (186-94) helped adding 9 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Ana Alonso (187-90) responded with 14 points and swingman Elena Murcia (176-88) scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. Rioja moved-up to seventh place in Group A, which they share with Joventut LC. Lima-Horta lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Rioja will face league's leader GDKO Bizkaia in Galdakao in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lima-Horta's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Barcelona Joventut LC.
