Regular Season Round 25: Cagliari Academy - Cuore Napoli 98-81

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Cuore Napoli (3-20) lost on the road to eleventh ranked Cagliari Academy (12-13) 98-81 on Saturday. Cagliari Academy dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Cuore Napoli's 38. They outrebounded Cuore Napoli 40-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for American forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St., agency: HMS) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Marcus Keene (180-95, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Four Cagliari Academy players scored in double figures. Point guard Bruno Mascolo (190-96) answered with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and American guard Elston Turner (195-90, college: Texas A&M) added 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Cuore Napoli. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Cagliari Academy maintains eleventh place in A2 with 12-13 record. Cuore Napoli at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixteenth position with 20 games lost. Cagliari Academy will face Eurobasket Roma (#14) on the road in the next round. Cuore Napoli will play against NPC Rieti and hope to win that game.
