Regular Season Round 27: Den Helder - Leeuwarden 69-66

The most exciting game of round 27 in the Eredivisie took place in Den Helder. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Leeuwarden (7-17) to eighth ranked Den Helder (5-19) 69-66 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leeuwarden. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Leeuwarden won third quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American guard LaVonte Dority (185-91, college: Valparaiso) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points. His fellow American import power forward Quinterian McConico (203-95, college: Alabama A&M, agency: Court Side) helped adding 11 points and 14 rebounds. Four Den Helder players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Emile Blackman (190-94, college: Duquesne) with 24 points and the former international power forward Jeroen van der List (212-89, college: Indian Hills CC) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Leeuwarden's coach Tony van den Bosch rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Den Helder maintains eighth place with 5-19 record. Leeuwarden at the other side keeps the sixth position with 17 games lost. Den Helder are looking forward to face league's leader Groningen at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leeuwarden will play against Den Bosch (#3) and is hoping to win this game.
