Regular Season Round 27: Almansa - Alcobendas 91-76

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Almansa (18-5) beat at home 7th ranked Alcobendas (12-12) 91-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Almansa. Alcobendas was better in second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American center Thomas Granado (208-88, college: Concordia Irvine, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 6 rebounds. American-Puerto Rican guard Bobby Harris (185-91, college: Amer.Internat., agency: Duran International) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Almansa's coach Ruben Perello allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward Luis de-la-Pena (200-94) answered with 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and forward Miguel Young (200-90) added 16 points in the effort for Alcobendas. Five Almansa and four Alcobendas players scored in double figures. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Almansa. Newly promoted Almansa maintains third place in Group B with 18-5 record having just three point less than leader Vic. Loser Alcobendas keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Almansa will face Estudiantes B (#9) in Madrid in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Alcobendas will play at home against Rivas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
