Regular Season Round 27: Cartagena - Begastri 72-84

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Begastri (2-19) defeated on the road higher ranked Cartagena (9-12) 84-72 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 29-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for forward Juan-Antonio Padilla (193-84) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Alvaro Bernal contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Begastri players scored in double figures. Forward Javier Santabarbara (197-95) answered with 21 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-94, college: Lander) added 19 points in the effort for Cartagena. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Begastri maintains twelfth place in Group E with 2-19 record. Cartagena lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. Begastri will face higher ranked L Alfas (#6) in Alfas Del Pi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
