Very important is a road loss of second ranked Holargos (18-4) against eighth ranked Ethnikos (12-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Holargos was defeated by Ethnikos in a tough game in Pireus 75-79. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Holargos. Holargos was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 22-12 charge of Ethnikos, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Holargos was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Paraskevas Martzos (197-85) scored 28 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Kostas Macheras (205-85) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Dimitrios Kompodietas (195-85) responded with 19 points and American-Hungarian forward Rashad Bell (203-82, college: Boston U.) scored 16 points. Holargos' coach Stergios Koufos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ethnikos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Amyntas Dafnis and Doxa Lefkadas. Holargos at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Ethnikos will play against higher ranked Iraklis (#3) in Thessaloniki in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Holargos will play at home against Doxa Lefkadas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
