Regular Season Round 27: Oviedo - Melilla 64-61

The most exciting game of round 27 in the LEB Gold took place in Oviedo. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Melilla Baloncesto (17-10) to fourth ranked Oviedo CB (18-9) 64-61 in the game for the fourth place. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-61. Oviedo CB dominated on the defensive end, holding Melilla Baloncesto to just 2 points in fourth quarter and to 9 points in second half. It was a good game for point guard Fabio Santana (188-92) who led his team to a victory with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Victor Perez (195-82) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Santana is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Center Fran Guerra (214-92) answered with 11 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Senegalese power forward Mamadou Samb (210-89) added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Melilla Baloncesto. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Oviedo CB have a solid series of three victories in a row. Oviedo CB maintains fourth place with 18-9 record. Melilla Baloncesto lost third consecutive game. Melilla Baloncesto at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Oviedo CB is looking forward to face Castello (#8) in Castellon in the next round. Melilla Baloncesto will play at home against Ourense and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
