Regular Season Round 44: Sendai 89ers - Yamagata 62-63

Important game to mention about took place in Sendai. Third ranked Yamagata (19-25) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Sendai 89ers (17-27) 63-62 in the game for the third place. Sendai 89ers were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Yoshihumi Nakajima (176-90) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and South Sudanese-American forward Angelo Chol (206-93, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Yamagata have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 19-25 record having eight points less than leader Akita NH. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the fourth place with 27 games lost. Yamagata will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against Yamagata (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
