SM-sarja top team - Catz Lappeenranta (25-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked ViVe (15-12) 83-66. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 45-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Catz Lappeenranta dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to ViVe's 36. They outrebounded ViVe 47-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Catz Lappeenranta looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Aleighsa Welch (183-93, college: S.Carolina, agency: Two Points) who led her team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Day (182-90, college: Portland) helped adding 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Catz Lappeenranta's coach Mika Haakana used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Canadian forward Jennifer Mathurin (185, college: N.Carolina St.) with 25 points and 8 rebounds and American swingman Pachis Roberts (180-94, college: Georgia) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Catz Lappeenranta have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 25-2 record. ViVe at the other side keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost.
