Regular Season Round 27: Valencia II - UAF Lucentum 73-71

Very expected game when 11th ranked UAF Lucentum (4-17) was edged on the road by third ranked Valencia-2 (15-6) 73-71 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 39-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for Icelandic center Tryggvi Hlinason (215-97) who led his team to a victory with 8 points and 15 rebounds. Swingman Josep Puerto (199-99) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Valencia-2's coach Angel Cepeda used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Pablo Matarredona answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and Aldo Serneguet (-96) added 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for UAF Lucentum. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Valencia-2. They maintain third place in Group E with 15-6 record having just two points less than leader Vic. UAF Lucentum lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Valencia-2 will face Sagunto (#9) in Gilet in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. UAF Lucentum will play at home against Lliria and hope to win that game.
