There was a minor upset in Civitanova Marche where 5th ranked Civitanova (14-7) was defeated by seventh ranked Faenza (12-10) 56-48 on Sunday. Faenza had a 32-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international forward Simona Ballardini (181-81) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Forward Lucia Morsiani (186-92) helped adding 13 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Jomanda Rosier (184-89) responded with 5 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Margherita Mataloni (165-95) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Faenza moved-up to sixth place in A2. Loser Civitanova keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Faenza will face league's second-placed RR Retail Galli in Valdarno in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Civitanova will play on the road against the league's leader Empoli and hope to win that game.
