Regular Season Round 23: Aisin AW - Toyoda Gosei 56-64

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Aichi: Toyoda Gosei (#5) and Aisin AW (#7). Aisin AW was defeated at home 56-64 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Toyoda Gosei dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Aisin AW's 28. They outrebounded Aisin AW 45-29 including 20 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for American forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import center Matthew Kendrick (215-90, college: St.Leo) helped adding 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Point guard Kei Kato (172-93) responded with 9 points and 4 assists and guard Yuki Ishihara (180-91) scored 7 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyoda Gosei have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 19-13 record. Aisin AW lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 21 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
