Regular Season Round 45: Akita NH - Toyotsu FE 99-81

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Toyotsu FE (27-17) on the court of first ranked Akita Happinets on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Akita Happinets 99-81. Akita Happinets forced 24 Toyotsu FE turnovers and outrebounded them 42-29 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Toyotsu FE helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. Point guard Takuya Nakayama (182-94) contributed with 14 points and 8 assists for the winners. Akita Happinets' coach Josep Claros used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Rodney Carney (201-84, college: Memphis) answered with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: Washington St.) added 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Toyotsu FE. Five Akita Happinets and four Toyotsu FE players scored in double figures. Akita Happinets (40-4) have an impressive series of eighteen victories in a row. They maintain first place which they share with defeated Toyotsu FE. Toyotsu FE at the other side still keeps top position with 17 games lost. Akita Happinets are looking forward to face league's second-placed Gunma on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toyotsu FE will play against Sendai 89ers and is hoping to win this game.
