Everything went according to plan when third ranked Valencia Basket (16-7) beat at home 9th ranked CB Canarias (12-11) 74-61 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Valencia Basket. CB Canarias was better in second period 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia Basket made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Montenegrin power forward Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds. American-Georgian Will Thomas (203-86, agency: Two Points) helped adding 16 points and 7 rebounds. Polish swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-93) responded with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Mike Tobey (212-94, college: Virginia) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with FC Barcelona and Baskonia. Loser CB Canarias keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Valencia Basket will face league's leader Real Madrid on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CB Canarias will play against Joventut (#18) and hope to win that game.
