Regular Season Round 23: BM Slam Stal - Anwil 76-83

PLK top team - Anwil (21-4) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked BM Slam Stal (15-9) in Ostrow Wlkp. 83-76. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of BM Slam Stal. Anwil made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Cape Verdean-Portuguese Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Georgian forward Quinton Hosley (201-84, college: Fresno St.) helped adding 9 points. Serbian power forward Nikola Markovic (208-89) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Aaron Johnson (173-88, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) scored 10 points and 8 assists. Five BM Slam Stal players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Anwil maintains first place with 21-4 record. BM Slam Stal at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. Anwil will play against GTK (#13) in Gliwice in the next round which should be an easy win for them. BM Slam Stal will play on the road against the league's second-placed Twarde Pierniki (#2) in Torun and hopes to get back on the winning track.
