Regular Season Round 23: Asseco - King 85-82

A very close game took place in Gdynia between Asseco and Wilki Morskie. Twelfth ranked Asseco (13-11) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Wilki Morskie (15-11). Asseco managed to escape with a 3-point win 85-82 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Wilki Morskie. Strangely Wilki Morskie outrebounded Asseco 41-27 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Marcel Ponitka (195-97) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Swingman Jakub Garbacz (197-94) accounted for 28 points for the winning side. Forward Lukasz Diduszko (196-86) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized American center Darrell Harris (205-84, college: Rhode Island) added 15 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Wilki Morskie in the defeat. Four Asseco and five Wilki Morskie players scored in double figures. Asseco moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Wilki Morskie keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Asseco will meet higher ranked Trefl (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wilki Morskie will play against Start and hope to secure a win.
