There was a minor upset in Brescia where one of their biggest challengers Germani BR (14-7) was defeated by sixth ranked Virtus Bologna (12-10) 70-66 on Sunday. American power forward Marcus Slaughter (204-85, college: San Diego St.) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. International swingman Alessandro Gentile (200-92) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Virtus Bologna players scored in double figures. The former international guard Michele Vitali (196-91) produced 22 points and international point guard Luca Vitali (201-86) added 11 points and 10 assists respectively for lost side. Virtus Bologna moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Banco di Srd and Fiat TO. Loser Germani BR keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Virtus Bologna will meet at home New Basket BR (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Germani BR will play against Betaland Cdo (#15) in Capo d'Orlando and hope to secure a win.
