Second Stage Round 7: Sagesse - Homenetmen 81-83

Fourth-ranked Sagesse (14-10) made lots of trouble for second ranked Homenetmen (19-4) in Beirut. The visitors managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected easier game. Homenetmen players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Sagesse's players. Worth to mention a great performance of U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) contributed with 27 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Homenetmen players scored in double figures. American forward Dewayne Jackson (203-90, college: Morgan St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) answered with 38 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and the former international Jasmon Youngblood (195-84, college: Kent St.) added 19 points in the effort for Sagesse. Homenetmen have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place in Group A with 19-4 record behind leader Al Riyadi. Sagesse at the other side dropped to the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Champville. Homenetmen's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Al Riyadi.
