Regular Season Round 23: Ascensores Tresa - Oviedo 78-73

Rather expected game in Gijon where 14th ranked Oviedo (1-22) was defeated by eleventh ranked Ascensores Tresa (8-15) 78-73 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-17. But Oviedo won second period 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ascensores Tresa looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Oviedo's players. It was a great evening for American forward Riley Nordgaard (178-93, college: Montana St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Argentinian Isabella Sangali helped adding 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Ascensores Tresa players scored in double figures. Forward Pamela Moral (175-82, agency: ProDep Management) responded with 20 points and center Carolina Hernando (184-85) scored 13 points. Ascensores Tresa moved-up to tenth place in Group A, which they share with Lima-Horta. Oviedo lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 22 games lost. Ascensores Tresa will face league's second-placed Real Celta Vigo on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Oviedo will play against Segle XXI (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
