Very important is a home loss of second ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (22-22) against fourth ranked Niigata Albirex (20-24) on Sunday night. Host San-en NeoPhoenix was defeated by Niigata Albirex in Hamamatsu 85-73. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of San-en NeoPhoenix. Niigata Albirex dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to San-en NeoPhoenix's 24. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 assists and American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) who added 19 points and 4 assists during the contest. Niigata Albirex's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) scored 13 points.
