Regular Season Round 22: Ullern - Asker 60-58

Fourth-ranked Asker (9-7) gave a tough game to first ranked Ullern (15-3) in Oslo on Sunday. Ullern managed to secure only two-point victory 60-58. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Asker. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 32-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ullern forced 22 Asker turnovers. Strangely Asker outrebounded Ullern 82-33 including a 30-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Asker helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international center Tori Halvorsen (183-88, college: American) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Ingrid Gjerdevik (169-92) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side guard Julie Skorpen (165-99) responded with 22 points and forward Ingrid Selvik (178-92) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Ullern have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-3 record. Asker at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Ullern will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Asker will play on the road against Ulriken (#5) in Bergen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
