Everything went according to plan when third ranked GSA Udine (16-9) defeated at home 12th ranked Unieuro Forli (10-15) 78-64 on Sunday. GSA Udine dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Unieuro Forli's 28. They outrebounded Unieuro Forli 35-23 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for naturalized American power forward Cristopher Mortellaro (207-82, college: Drury) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). American Kyndall Dykes (192-87, college: New Orleans) contributed with 11 points and 5 assists for the winners. Dykes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five GSA Udine players scored in double figures. GSA Udine's coach Lino Lardo used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Maltese-American Darryl Jackson (190-85, college: Warner Pacific) answered with 13 points and Israeli point guard Yuval Naimy (188-85) added 13 points in the effort for Unieuro Forli. GSA Udine maintains third place in A2 with 16-9 record having just three points less than leader Alma Trieste. Loser Unieuro Forli dropped to the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. GSA Udine will face Treviso Basket (#4) on the road in the next round. Unieuro Forli will play against the league's second-placed F.Kontatto BO (#2) and hope to win that game.
