There was no surprise when 8th ranked Maccabi Rishon (8-12) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Hapoel Eilat (10-10) 79-75 on Monday. Maccabi Rishon was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Hapoel Eilat made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Demetrius Treadwell (201-91, college: Akron) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and guard Jordan Loyd (193-93, college: Indianapolis) who added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Hapoel Eilat's coach Sharon Drucker used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Murphy Holloway (201-90, college: Mississippi) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and guard Drew Crawford (196-90, college: Northwestern) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Eilat have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hapoel T-A. Loser Maccabi Rishon keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Bnei Hertzeliya and Ironi Nes-Ziona. Hapoel Eilat will meet higher ranked Maccabi Ashdod (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
