Second Stage Round 7: Al Riyadi - Champville 91-81

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Al Riyadi as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group A. Al Riyadi defeated 3rd placed Champville in Beirut 91-81. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Champville's 42. They outrebounded Champville 42-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. The former international swingman Jean Abdel-Nour (198-83) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. American center Chris Daniels (205-84, college: Texas A&M-CC) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. American forward Daniel Orton (208-90, college: Kentucky) produced 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Ahmad Ibrahim (198-92, college: Rice) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Champville lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third place with ten games lost. They share the position with Sagesse. Champville will play next round against Beirut Club trying to get back on the winning streak. Al Riyadi will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Homenetmen. It will be extra interesting game as Homenetmen is their local rival from Beirut.
