Regular Season Round 24: Roanne - Fos-Provence 99-64

The game between Top Four teams took place in Roanne. Third ranked host Chorale de Roanne (18-6) smashed one of their biggest challengers Provence Basket (16-8) 99-64. The game was mostly controlled by Chorale de Roanne. Provence Basket was better in fourth quarter 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Provence Basket to just 7 points in third quarter. Chorale de Roanne dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Provence Basket's 24 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Chorale de Roanne had a 29-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 65.0 percentage. Chorale de Roanne players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The winners were led by Cameroonian forward Benoit Mbala (203-95) who scored that evening 18 points and 9 rebounds and American swingman Jason Williams (198-83, college: UTEP) supported him with 14 points and 5 assists. Four Chorale de Roanne players scored in double figures. Even 6 points and 7 assists by point guard Edouard Choquet (188-88) did not help to save the game for Provence Basket. The former international point guard Abdoulaye MBaye (189-88) added 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chorale de Roanne have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 18-6 record behind leader Blois. Provence Basket lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Saint-Chamond and Lille. Chorale de Roanne will play against Poitiers (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Provence Basket will play against JA Vichy (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
