Rather predictable result when ninth ranked JA Vichy (12-12) defeated on the road 13th ranked STB Le Havre (8-16) 83-79 on Tuesday. JA Vichy forced 26 STB Le Havre turnovers. Strangely STB Le Havre outrebounded JA Vichy 46-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of David Denave (193-85) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Charles-Henri Bronchard (200-82, agency: Court Side) who added 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Angolan center Joaquim Valdelicio (208-90, college: Hawaii, agency: Duran International) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and naturalized Algerian point guard Samir Mekdad (191-86) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four STB Le Havre players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. JA Vichy have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Denain. Loser STB Le Havre keeps the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. JA Vichy will face higher ranked Provence Basket (#4) in Fos-sur-Mer in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. STB Le Havre will play at home against Aix-Maurienne (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
