Regular Season Round 5: Cerrado - Sao Jose 58-81

Liga Ouro top team - Sao Jose (7-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Cerrado (0-6) 81-58. They outrebounded Cerrado 43-29 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sao Jose players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Rafael Moreira (201-91) stepped up and scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and center Feliciano Perez (210-90) chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds. Eric Soares (205-86) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Paulo Da-Costa (191-94) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sao Jose have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Cerrado at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Sao Jose will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cerrado will play at home against the league's second-placed Corinthians (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
