There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Union SF (17-16) lost to eleventh ranked Ameghino (15-20) in Santa Fe 93-102 on Wednesday. Ameghino made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Ameghino outrebounded Union SF 40-23 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Power forward Juan-Luis Abeiro (196-88) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. American center Gene Teague (206-89, college: Seton Hall, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 30 points for the winners. Power forward Miguel Isola (197-83) replied with 28 points and 5 rebounds and Haitian-American forward James Cambronne (201-91, college: St.Michael's) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Union SF. Four Union SF players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Ameghino maintains eleventh position in North with 15-20 record. Loser Union SF dropped to the seventh place with 16 games lost. Ameghino will face Echague (#13) in Parana in the next round.
