Regular Season Round 24: Trefl - Asseco 66-59

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Trefl (15-11) won against 11th ranked Asseco (13-12) in Sopot 66-59 on Thursday. Trefl made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American center Steve Zack (211-92, college: La Salle) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the other American import guard Jermaine Love-Roberts (188-89, college: Ill.-Springfield, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 23 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Trefl's coach Marcin Klozinski used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Even 8 points and 7 rebounds by the former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84) did not help to save the game for Asseco. The former international guard Marcel Ponitka (195-97) added 7 points and 5 rebounds. Trefl have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Rosa. Asseco at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Trefl will meet Start (#11) in the next round. Asseco will play against the league's second-placed Stelmet Enea BC where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
