Second Stage Round 21: Echague - Ameghino 91-85

There was a minor upset in Parana where 11th ranked Ameghino (15-21) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Echague (14-21) 91-85 on Friday. American forward Jamell Cornley (196-87, college: Penn St.) stepped up and scored 27 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St., agency: Promotex) chipped in 20 points. The best for the losing side was power forward Juan-Luis Abeiro (196-88) with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Gene Teague (206-89, college: Seton Hall, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Ameghino's coach Pablo Castro tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Echague maintains thirteenth place in North with 14-21 record. Newly promoted Ameghino keeps the eleventh position with 21 games lost. Echague will face league's second-placed Libertad Sunchales on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
