Regular Season Round 28: Tarragona - Mataro Parc Boet 68-79

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Mataro Parc Boet (11-11) defeated on the road 7th ranked Tarragona (12-9) 79-68 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Mataro Parc Boet forced 20 Tarragona turnovers. Tarragona was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Faronte Drakeford (201-92, college: Cent.Conn.St.) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Marc Hermoso who added 17 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Michael Balkovic (198-93, college: Caldwell, agency: Dynamics Global Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and point guard David Fernandez (179-91) scored 12 points and 6 assists. Four Tarragona players scored in double figures. Tarragona's coach Bernardo Alvarez let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mataro Parc Boet moved-up to eighth place in Group C-A, which they share with Sant Adria. Loser Tarragona dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. Mataro Parc Boet will face Quart (#14) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Tarragona will play against the league's second-placed Menorca (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
