Regular Season Round 26: L'Hospitalet - Myrtia 61-59

A very interesting game took place in Hospitalet. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 9th ranked Myrtia (12-14) to seventh ranked L'Hospitalet (14-12) 61-59 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Myrtia won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 25 personal fouls committed by Myrtia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Power forward Ivan Garcia (206-86) notched 18 points to lead the effort and Georgian center Shota Gelazonia (205-94) supported him with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds by British Matthew Don (201-93, college: Cameron) did not help to save the game for Myrtia. Italian-Argentinian swingman Juan-Ignacio Jasen (196-85) added 11 points and 5 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. L'Hospitalet moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Navarra. Newly promoted Myrtia keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. L'Hospitalet's next round opponent will be higher ranked Albacete (#5) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Myrtia will play against the league's second-placed La Roda (#2) and hope to win that game.
