There was a small surprise when Wanneroo (1-1) beat Suns (1-2) in Kalamunda 81-71 on Saturday. They outrebounded Suns 42-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. Wanneroo looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for swingman Nikita-Lee Martin (184-88) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Shani Amos (170-91) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Wanneroo's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Alex Ciabattoni (183-94) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Jewel Williams added 19 points and 6 assists in the effort for Suns. Wanneroo will face Redbacks (#7) in Northbridge in the next round. Suns will play at home against Eagles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
