No shocking result in a game when second ranked Kyoto Hannar. (29-17) beat on the road 6th ranked Shimane Magic (7-39) 83-68 on Saturday. They outrebounded Shimane Magic 38-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Kyoto Hannar. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Shimane Magic was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international center Nagayoshi Yuya (199-91) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four Kyoto Hannar. players scored in double figures. American forward Al Thornton (203-83, college: Florida St.) answered with 22 points and 5 rebounds and American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Shimane Magic. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Kyoto Hannar. have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 29-17 record having nine points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Shimane Magic lost twentieth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with 39 games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will face Nishinomiya S. (#5) in Hyogo in the next round. Shimane Magic will play at home against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
