Regular Season Round 28: Novaschool - San Fernando 84-81

Date: March 24, 2018
A very interesting game took place in Malaga. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked San Fernando (9-14) to second ranked Novaschool (12-11) 84-81 on Saturday evening. San Fernando cut a 14-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. They outrebounded San Fernando 42-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by San Fernando helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for American forward Alex Jackson (200-84, college: Mo.-St.Louis) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Center Anastasio Vazquez (204-92) contributed with 7 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Jackson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Jose Ruiz (200-97) replied with 18 points and 8 rebounds and forward Jesus Remesal (194-95) added 16 points in the effort for San Fernando. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. San Fernando's coach Juan Luis Esteban tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Novaschool keeps a position of Group D-Permam leader, which they share with Coin. San Fernando at the other side keeps the sixth place with 14 games lost. Novaschool's next round opponent will be Benahavis (#4) on the road. San Fernando will play against Multiopticas Baza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
