But Slammers were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Mandurah 82-71 on Saturday night. Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Slammers' 38. The best player for the winners was American guard Shaun Stewart (180-94, college: Limestone) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import swingman Jamal Shabazz (198-94, college: Samford) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Magic players scored in double figures. Magic's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Lucas Goff (190-0) who recorded 22 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized American power forward Clive Weeden (206-87, college: Dartmouth) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Magic will face Flames (#11) in Rockingham in the next round. Slammers will play on the road against Tigers in Willetton and hope to get finally their first victory.
