Regular Season Round 23: Ermis Agias - Apollon Patras 69-85

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Apollon Patras (16-7) beat on the road 9th ranked Ermis Agias (10-13) 85-69. Ermis Agias was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 42-25 second half run of Apollon Patras. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ermis Agias to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Ermis Agias' 18 and made 22-of-23 charity shots (95.7 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Alex Acker (196-83, college: Pepperdine) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Center Costis Gontikas (206-94, college: New York U.) accounted for 19 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side. Four Apollon Patras players scored in double figures. The former international forward Nestoras Kommatos (203-77) came up with 22 points and 6 rebounds and guard Leonidas Triantafillou (190-88) added 15 points respectively for Ermis Agias in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Apollon Patras. They maintain fourth place with 16-7 record. Newly promoted Ermis Agias dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Papagou. Apollon Patras will play against Karditsas (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ermis Agias will play against Kastoria and hopes to get back on the winning track.
