Regular Season Round 6: Cerrado - Corinthians 63-96
Date: March 24, 2018
Bottom-ranked Cerrado (0-7) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to second ranked Corinthians (6-1) 96-63 on Saturday evening. Corinthians had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Cerrado's players. American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Humberto Gomes (195-95) chipped in 16 points and 7 assists during the contest. Five Corinthians players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Wilton Dos-Santos (180-89) with 12 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Paulo Da-Costa (191-94) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Corinthians maintains second position with 6-1 record behind leader Sao Jose. Cerrado at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Corinthians are looking forward to face league's leader Sao Jose on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cerrado will play against Brasilia (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
