Regular Season Round 24: Ensino - Cortegada 72-53

No shocking result in a game in Lugo where third ranked Maquinaria Ensino (18-6) smashed 6th ranked Cortegada (13-11) 72-53 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Maquinaria Ensino. Cortegada was better in second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maquinaria Ensino forced 23 Cortegada turnovers and outrebounded them 42-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) who scored 12 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 22 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Maquinaria Ensino's coach used entire bench saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Sara Gomez (172-86, agency: ProDep Management) who recorded 15 points, 7 assists and 5 steals and Croatian forward Davorka Balic (188-88) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Maquinaria Ensino have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with GDKO Bizkaia and Aros Patatas. Loser Cortegada dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Maquinaria Ensino will face Ascensores Tresa (#11) in Gijon in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cortegada will play at home against Arxil Pontevedra (#9) and hope to win that game.
