It looked good early as Weiterstadt took a 13-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Eisvogel Freiburg took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 9 points. They also forced 23 Weiterstadt turnovers and had a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Kirsten Gaffney (185) nailed a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Kelly Hughes (180, college: Boston Coll.) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds. Eisvogel Freiburg's coach Pierre Hohn used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Christina Krick (169) came up with 23 points and power forward Aline Stiller (184-94) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Weiterstadt in the defeat.
