Regular Season Round 25: Polski Cukier - GTK Gliwice 117-65
Date: March 25, 2018
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Twarde Pierniki (19-9) crushed 14th ranked GTK (10-17) in Torun 117-65 on Sunday. Twarde Pierniki dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to GTK's 40. They outrebounded GTK 39-19 including a 29-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Twarde Pierniki especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by GTK's players. It was a very good performance for Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Aleks Perka (200-87, college: Rice, agency: Promotex) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Twarde Pierniki players scored in double figures. American guard Jonathan Williams (190-95, college: Toledo) answered with 18 points and the other American import point guard Quinton Hooker (183, college: N.Dakota) added 12 points in the effort for GTK. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Twarde Pierniki moved-up to second place. GTK lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Twarde Pierniki will face league's leader Anwil in Wloclawek in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. GTK will play at home against Wilki Morskie (#7) and hope to win that game.
