Regular Season Round 28: AEC Collblanc - Menorca 84-81

Leading Menorca (16-6) recorded its sixth loss in L´Hospitalet on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by fourth ranked AEC Collblanc (13-7) 84-81. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Menorca. Point guard Bernat Alvarez (176-95) fired 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Edson Avila (206-92, college: Georgetown, KY) chipped in 17 points. Avila is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Power forward Andreu Matali (204-81) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks and center Jan Orfila (207-84, agency: Athleadz) added 13 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four AEC Collblanc and five Menorca players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. AEC Collblanc maintains fourth position in Group C-A with 13-7 record. Loser Menorca still keeps top place with six games lost. They share the position with Vive El Masnou. AEC Collblanc will meet Cantaires Tortosa (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Menorca will play against Tarragona (#7) and hope to secure a win.
