Regular Season Round 25: Flamengo - B.Cearense 87-85

Ninth-ranked SKY/Basquete (11-14) was very close to win a game against second ranked Flamengo (23-3) in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday. Flamengo managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SKY/Basquete. Flamengo made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Anderson Varejao (211-82) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Flamengo's coach Jose Neto used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The former international Betinho Nardi-Duarte (195-88) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Felipe Ribeiro (201-79) added 11 points and 18 rebounds in the effort for SKY/Basquete. Five Flamengo and four SKY/Basquete players scored in double figures. Flamengo have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Paulistano. SKY/Basquete at the other side dropped to the tenth place with 14 games lost. Flamengo is looking forward to face Universo/Vitoria (#8) in Salvador in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SKY/Basquete will play on the road against Minas in Belo Horizonte and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
