Regular Season Round 47: Toyotsu FE - Sendai 89ers 88-85

Fourth-ranked Sendai 89ers (17-29) made lots of trouble for first ranked Toyotsu FE (29-17) in Nagoya on Sunday. Toyotsu FE managed to secure only three-point victory 88-85. However their fans expected easier game. Toyotsu FE looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Rodney Carney (201-84, college: Memphis) who scored 23 points. His fellow American import center Garrett Stutz (214-90, college: Wichita St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Toyotsu FE's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) produced a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and guard Takehiko Shimura (160-83) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Toyotsu FE maintains first place with 29-17 record. Sendai 89ers lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 29 games lost. Toyotsu FE are looking forward to face Shinshu BW (#5) in Nagano in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play on the road against Aomori Watts and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
