Regular Season Round 47: Kanazawa Sam. - Fukushima 92-87

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Fukushima (27-17) against fourth ranked Kanazawa Sam. (23-22) on Sunday night. Visiting Fukushima was defeated by Kanazawa Sam. in a tough game in Ishikawa 87-92. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Fukushima. Kanazawa Sam. made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Guard Ide Yuji (181-88) helped adding 9 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Kanazawa Sam.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Nigerian center Solomon Alabi (216-88, college: Florida St.) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Deon Jones (198-93, college: Monmouth) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Kanazawa Sam. maintains fourth place with 23-22 record. Loser Fukushima keeps the second position with 17 games lost. Kanazawa Sam. will meet higher ranked Cyberdyne IR (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fukushima will play against Yamagata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
