Second Stage Round 8: Homenetmen - Al Riyadi 98-69

LBL round 8 caused change at the leadership position. Fifth defeat of league's leader Al Riyadi (20-5) against second ranked Homenetmen (20-4) 98-69 was the most important game of the last round. It was a key game for the top position in Group A. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) contributed with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Homenetmen players scored in double figures. American Ramon Galloway (190-91, college: La Salle, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import center Chris Daniels (205-84, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 12 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Al Riyadi. Homenetmen have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group A leader. Defending champion Al Riyadi dropped to the second place with five games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Homenetmen. Al Riyadi will play next round against strong Sagesse trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut - Sagesse. Homenetmen will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Beirut Club. It will be extra interesting game as Beirut Club is their local rival from Beirut.
