Eighteenth-ranked Joventut (4-19) made lots of trouble for ninth ranked CB Canarias (13-11) in Tenerife. CB Canarias managed to secure only two-point victory 77-75. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 29-18 Joventut's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 77-75 at the end of the game. The winners were led by international point guard Rodrigo San-Miguel (186-85) who scored that evening 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and Greek swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84) supported him with 18 points. Even 15 points and 5 assists by Argentinian guard Nicolas Laprovittola (190-90) did not help to save the game for Joventut. Polish forward Tomasz Gielo (206-93, college: Mississippi) added 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Joventut players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. CB Canarias maintains ninth position with 13-11 record. Joventut lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 19 games lost. CB Canarias' next round opponent will be RETAbet BB (#15) in Bilbao where they are favorite. Joventut will play at home against Gran Canaria and hope to win that game.
