Regular Season Round 29: Niigata Albirex - Hitachi SR 74-84

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Niigata Albirex (21-25) lost at home to fifth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (23-23) 84-74 on Sunday. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) answered with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) added 11 points and 6 assists in the effort for Niigata Albirex. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains fifth place with 23-23 record, which they share with Hokkaido L. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the fourth position with 25 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face higher ranked Tochigi Brex (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Niigata Albirex will play against Toyama Grouses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
