There was no surprise when 9th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (5-29) was defeated on the road by second ranked Otsuka A. (25-9) 88-82 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Otsuka A. outrebounded Tokyo Cinq R. 49-33 including 36 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Ray Nixon (203-84, college: Wisconsin) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import forward Kyle Richardson (201-91, college: Portland St.) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) who recorded 21 points and 8 rebounds and Senegalese Bira Seck (204-90, college: Idaho, agency: Interperformances) added 21 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Otsuka A. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 25-9 record having just three points less than leader Tokyo HT. Loser Tokyo Cinq R. stay dead last with 29 lost games. Otsuka A. will face Kagoshima (#6) in Renova in the next round. Tokyo Cinq R. will play at home against Saitama Broncos and hope to win that game.
